Northstar Bass Club
Rush Lake 2009
|
Our mystery lake this year was McDonald Lake up on Hwy. 108 by Dent. It was a lake that most members have not fished; and if they had, it has been at least 20 years
is what I heard from the two oldest members (names won't be mentioned, but one of them can't hear very well). Turned out to be a typical memorial weekend here in Minnesota;
cold, wet, and windy! But the fishing action was warm to hot for most (hot for us at least). Cutting the tournament length by one hour didn't make much noise; so I assume
that means everyone was happy with the shorter day (of course, one less hour in the wind was a welcome relief).

Could you pass me the coolwhip please.

Assist. Tourney Directory Howard Fullhart is shown here hard at work setting up the blast-off positions and teaming duties.
Assisting the assistant is Mark Henry as Mike Macheledt looks on. |
New and Old

Shown here is the youngest member of the club Ben Greene sitting next to the oldest member, Terry Black as
we all enjoy a little breakfast at the Big Chief. Little did these two know at this point, that both of them would be.............. |
Old and New

..............paired up together in the tournament.

Suit Up!

Although it wasn't raining when we put our boats in, soon after, it rained on and off most of the day. Shown here are club members gearing
up for the duck-loving weather.

What did you just say John?

Steve Kubeny (center) apparently finds something that John Simonson (right) is saying rather funny. Still dazed and trying
to figure it all out is Gary Kamrowski (left).

Two-fer for Me-fer

I have to admit, it was a good day for me at least. Shown here is yours truly Gregg Ripley holding two of the hogs that helped us
win the tournament. I partnered with John Waerzeggers who commented often that he was being back-doored by the back-door.
See Holly Anne, being in the back isn't necessarily a bad thing {g}.

Mr. Lunker

Don Cole is shown here with his lunker of over five pounds. Very nice fish Don!!!

Lunker

Shown here is Don Cole taking the Lunker award for a hog of a fish weighing 5.3 pounds.

Second Place

Mike Macheledt and Tom Mann were paired up and won second place. There weight was
just a 1/4 of a pound heavier than third place. Their total weight was 19.82 pounds with a big fish of 4.65 pounds. Nice job gentlemen!
|
First Place

Gregg Ripley and John Waerzeggers fished the best and took first place by catching 20.38 pounds of fish with my
big one weighing 4.69 pounds.
I just want to say for the record that if John mentions anything about my culling tactics, he is all wet!! (after today, literally).
Also, just
as a side note - Take a look at who won last year's Mystery tournament. Go ahead...connections can be made. {g}.
